I am booked on the Cork Roscoff ferry for Easter sat , but we have a 9 week old infant travelling with us and because he is so new we are only getting his passport sorted this week. If in the likley event we dont get it in time I belive there is an EU id card he could travel on. Can anybody confirm or deny or has anbody any experience of this? We are two adults and a 5 year old with up to date passports and a new born without.

    You will need the passport.

What is your nationality or more importantly that of the child?
A valid EU ID card is fine to travel with.

    Passport is the only option.

Ireland unfortunately does not issue National ID cards.

Make sure you use the express service and to do it asap. If everything is in order you will have the passport by then.

We recently applied for one for our new born, and hers arrived within 8 days.

The express service is currently suspended. And on top of that, as posted in the other thread, the passport office in Dublin got flooded due to a broken pipe. Definitely do apply ASAP and then hope for the best.

Yes all manner of drama in the Passport office this morning. My better half was there this morning on the queue when they closed due to floods , apparently they were going go on strike at 12.30 also. I think best plan of action is to camp out on thursday and try to get it done
