    Hi folks.

Well myself and my wife have easter week off and are looking to head away for some sun (Sun is a must)

Does anyone have any tips on how and where to get good (great) deals. Never do it before but could wait until last minute if it means a better deal.

Any tipsor advice from people who have do this before is welcome.

    Thanks

Bugdet used to be great for last minute deals. Me and the missus would book a week off and go into Budget on the thursday and fly out on the saturday!! dont know what we're going to this year !!:(

It's an awful time to look for deals thanks to school holidays.

If there are deals to be had you need to be flexible about when you go, where you go and probably where you depart from. Keep an eye on the main tour operators and maybe even teletext on UTV. Maybe even try ringing a decent travel agent.

Try www.latedeals.ie they have all the tour operators on them.

Yes, late deals are one of the cheaper companies, I think they are UK owned

Last minute deals appear to be a thing of the past (this year at least). But, there are privately booked holidays to be picked up and could even be cheaper than the old last minute deals.

    Hi Leper

What are privately booked holidays ? and where do you find them?

    Thanks

You can book holidays privately by visiting websites like 'Holiday Homes Direct' etc. Then book your flights through Aer Lingus or Ryanair or wherever you get the cheapest deal.

Newspaper classified ads can be a source also. But, you cannot beat word of mouth from people who nearly always book this way.

These holidays work out cheaper than the tailored package holidays.

The main problem this winter season (November-April) is with Budget travel going into liquidation late in the season there are a lot of seats gone out of the market.
There is,for the first time in years, more demand than there is holidays.
A lot of the tour operators shared aircraft with Budget and instead on taking on the full aircraft when budget went they dropped it altogether.
The majority of weeks this year there have been no late deals with the exception on Tunisia on a couple of occassions.
Also afaik ,Club travel are taking over the database of Budget travel clients not the operation itself.
Anyone taking over a budget like product as it was would be looking at summer 2011 as it's far to late now for contracts and booking periods to make it viable.

private is the way to go. www.daft.ie have an overseas section so you can have a look and then give the direct owner a call.Nothing scary about it and its great to deal with the actual owner of the apartment. With Ryanair continuing to stretch out around Europr, you should be able to find somewhere with a bit of sun. I would suggest Canaries for this time of year
