40th Wedding Anniversary - Things to do & present ideas

    Hi,

I hope you can help. My parents are married 40 years in 2 weeks and I need to come up with a plan of a) what to do on the day and b) what present to get them.

My mum isn't very well at the moment and my parents generally aren't into big surprise parties or anything like that. I have only 1 sister and I'm also saving for a wedding at the moment so need to bear this in mind money-wise.

If anyone has any nice, special ideas, please let me know,

    mwaters

Holiday or something they want/need for the house.
Everyone usually likes a break away- even a weekend in a nice hotel with dinner

My parents were 40 years married a few years ago and we booked them a holiday to where they went on honeymoon, not meaning to sound agiest (is that a word?), but back then people didn't tend to go far and most of the popular destinations then are very cheap now
