    Yes, couriers.
It could cost you more than buying a new 360 I reckon.

GLS are a decent enough service, you can go in and talk to them in Reads on Nassau St. and they might sort this out, not too expensive either. They have a website and you have google. ;)

But he actually wants to get the Xbox, not spend 10 years wondering where it went.

I've used them a good few times and never had a problem with them. Got a fairly big parcel sent (amplifier) to the UK recently for €21 (inc. insurane). It arrived in two days too.:)

    Internet Cafe Ndirox Ventures
    56 Austin Friars Street .
    MULLINGAR
    Ireland
    Phone: 044/9333821
    Fax: 044/9333822

    Mo. - Sa.:
    09:00 - 22:00
    Su.:
    12:00 - 21:30

They'll measure the box and give you a price. It's best if you have the original box for packing though as it's less likely to get damaged. If you don't have the original box, get a suitable box with loads of bubble wrap and foam. Not too big though as price is determined by size and not weight like some other couriers.

They'll give you a tracking number too and insurance up to a few hundred euros as standard.

They've got postcodes in the UK, but here out in the sticks, we have to tie a ball of string to the door-knocker and one of our ankles to find our way home. GLS eventually get to know where you are after half a dozen visits.

It's a bloody pain without postcodes alright. We're the only country in Europe without them. Always make sure they have your moblie number.

GLS don't do pick ups. But other companies do so it does make sense what you're saying alright. I still reckon they'd be more expensive than GLS though, but I could be wrong. Try Fastway.ie for a price

DHL do that but I'd say they're probably the most expensive. Really any courier should be prepared to pick something up at the drop up point as long as it's arranged before hand, it's what they do after all.

I think it's good having knowledgeable postmen that just know where everyone lives. In the UK they rely completely on postcodes and never actually learn where they're going, so if there's any problem wit the postcode they're completely lost. It's like the difference between the black cabs in London and the hackneys. The black cabs know the city inside and out and don't use satnav whereas allot of the hackneys almost need the postcode for the satnav before they can set off.

Not all courier companies do. I know DPD (formerly Interlink) do a service called 'Swap it'. It basically does what the OP wants. Delivers an item but doesn't deliver it unless there is something to pick up. When they do the delivery and pick up, they then deliver the parcel they picked up within the next working day.

    Magical stuff!

OP ...do you know anyone in Cork .... or does the other person in Cork know any fans that will be going to the game in Athlone at the weekend ..... they could bring the X-box up from Cork and do the swap with you in Athlone before/after the game on Sat.

    (just a suggestion)

Also - if you can get to heuston you can put it on the train - insured and posted to them for approx €25, you can get them to collect at train station or posted to the home, if they collect in train station they can send the other package in return on the return train - can all be done in a day.

or if you really want I'll drive to Mullingar, pick up the PS3, drive to Cork ...deliver package, return to Mullingar and then drive back to Dublin (we can haggle over the price if ya want)
