Saturday see's the last of our cross county races this season.

The race is being hosted by NUI Maynooth and AIB. Over the years it has always been a good flat fast race and a great way to finish off the Cross county races.
The Distance is 2.5 miles for the ladies and 4 mile for the men. The Flyer below gives all details needed including a handy map for the campus .
This would be a great intro to cross county running

Don’t forget that this is the last race in the winter league and will determine the winners of all categories. In all of the leagues, the top places are not yet decided so those in the leading positions need to run on Saturday in order to protect their positions

    Race times:

    2.5 miles ladies 11:00 AM
    4 Miles men 11:30

I hope to be there. Any chance the IT boys can get a team out for this? I believe Robin might be getting sensible but you never know.

I'll be there myself, going to give this a lash to see where I stand at the moment. On an easy week this week too so should be fresh for the weekend.

I think I'm still not quite into sensible mode before the marathon just yet. Had a quick look at the leagues pages and there is the very remote chance of me making it up to 3rd, but it requires the two people above me to not turn up, so I'm going to have to turn out to race this one just in case. :D

We might be able to move up a place in the team league as well, but there are a few too many no scores in the last few races to get us anywhere near the top of that table now.

Getting cocky since the top 15 place in the NCF Evening race I see. ;)

The placings from one race to the next do vary wildly depending on the people who turn up to each one, rather than any major change to the pace that we run at on the day.

Bring a full change of clothes. The weather forecast for Saturday is crap - rain, wind, cold.
Hav'nt run this before, does anyone if it churns up much in the wet?

Ran here a few times, its flat fast and for the most part very dry. Its mostly around football pitches etc so will not be too bad at all, If it stays dry i'm going with runners if there is rain I'll gofor spikes. I've heard there isjust one section thats a little bit wet but its more like a road race then an XC race.

Im not reading too much into the last result as only half the usual field turned up. But it still makes for good viewing!! I see you did well yourself, you should be cocky too!!! Pity about the pace for the NCF, the extra 400 metres that they added on makes the pace per km look not so good

I'll prob be there a bit early tomorrow to get a couple of extra miles warmup done, if anyone is around, it will be really really slow....

Well after the met people predicting a wet, cold, windy morning it turned out to be a sunny, calm, mild morning for this race. A flat, dryish course gave some fast times for the last XC race for the season and as usual for the BHAA races very well organised. No team prizes this time for IT A but still a very enjoyable morning.

Was most un-cross country like conditions today with the sun out, not a lot of wind, no hills and a mostly mud free course. Guess that was the cause of a big turn out for todays race.

If the guy shouting out positions near the end of the first lap was counting right then I managed to make up about 12 places over the next three laps so have to be happy with making that progress over the race.

Now I really do have to stop doing anymore races for a while.

Oh, and hello to whoever it was that asked if I was the guy from Boards with the Brazillians before the race. :D

You're going to be dining out on those Brazilian's for years I'm sure... Better be some still in Cork for me in June! Well done today, another good run! Looks like one of the guys ahead of you in the league showed up as well, although you beat him by about 35 places I'm not sure if it'll be enough to get you up to third :(

    Edit: 2000th post \o/

Think it could be close in that individual league, trickier to work out the results on that though as it's not just counting up race positions so will have to wait for what results the computer spits out on that one.

    Hello again Robin,

It was my first race, only 6 months running (2 months injured) I was a bit worried I might finish last, but 3 guys came in behind me, I have to be happy with a PB 37:12 for 4 miles..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 972 ✭✭✭stmochtas

Team and individual points are now up to date.

Well done to all winners in what was a great winter league.

We got 6th in the grade B team categogry for IT A today.

I only managed to make it up to 4th in the individual league, those races I missed were too much of a difference to make up but only 2 points in it in the end.

Absolutely, they make me run faster. So fast in fact that the camera is not quick enough to focus on me:

I enjoyed that today, all the more because I did to this guy, what he did to me a few weeks back. I caught up with him with about 200m to go, went quiet, and passed him at speed. It was too close to the finish for him to react.

Very satisfying, specially because he's a better runner, and usually beats me ... :D

Yep, nice race and nice weather. Absolutey b!!!x!ed at the end though. Probably the lack of hills or mud to slow down and catch the breath. Looks like my team finished top of Grade C. Not bad for a first outing!!
