Javelin Tips

I've been using the javelin lately to take down enemy air support, no problem.

Just wondering has anyone got any good tips for taking out locations?

Obviously the javelin missle launches upwards and comes down vertically on it's locked target. Therefore I'm not sure you will have much success locking onto a building with a roof?

I've not had much success taking out hostiles using it so far - best I've done is a double-kill by launching the javelin into the poppy fields from the very top of the hill (overlooking the plane) on Afghan.

    Cheers.

Sorry, no tips, like you I've tried to get to grips with it figuring its a powerful weapon and should be good but not had much joy. I found it leaves you out in the open with yer d1ck in yer hand for too long, usually you become an easy kill. As far as i can tell you need good elevation to get a long range ground shot thus sitting duck to any halfway decent snipers.

Play groundwar/domination for those multikills. scavanger kicks ass with it. Fire missile after missile. If you know the spawning areas on the map you're playing you will pick up those triple/multi kills nicely & laugh at your opposition while you spawn kill them:pac:

Good point about the match type, thanks for that. I usually play TDM so people wouldn't be bunched up together as often.

    @EnigmaIE

God, don't tell Mark that you've raised the possibility of playing Ground War!!

I've started using it recently too. What I found is that is more to with putting them into high traffic areas and hoping rather than firing at someone (they have plenty of time to react and leave the area you targeted if they even suspect you were firing at them).

One thing I started doing yesterday was locking it on to tree tops in high traffic areas or near spawn points.

It is far from a relyable weapon I find. Takes too long to take out air-support (in comparision to stinger) and killing guys is pretty much a lottery.

The cliff on Afghan where people sniper off can be a good area for a few kills, if you know the locations you'll do well with it although it takes getting used to.

I used it for a few weeks and was soon getting triple kills with it. As knoximus said objective based games are where you'll get most of your kills.

I guess one tip with it is to use Danger Close instead of Stopping power when you use it. But then you lose damage on your primary weapon.

The stinger can only take out air-support, where the javelin can take out ground targets also, so they could be useful in the right situation!

I think Javelin is best used in objective based games. The RPG is probably more portable and good in the likes of Wasteland & Afghan (regardless of game type). Must give it a go, Ja!

Yeah, it can be fun to use the RPG alright. But it's tough to kill AirSupport as there is no lockon for it. Good for killing people in rooms though. :)

Oh, it's well easy to kill yourself with the RPG, if that is what you mean. Shooting a guy to close and you both go BOOM!

(If you meant with the Javelin, I think I saw a vid on here where a guy aimed at airsupport and it turned around and blew him up. Hilarious!)

No need for Danger Close, the blast radius is big enough.

That actually happened to me too once. Never used it since then.

Sleight of Hand is useful with the RPG also.

I always find it har to lock onto the cliff for some reason.

You don't lose damage - you just don't gain it. stopping pwower not that good anyhow.

I think that was a glitch a one point. Doens't seem to happen anymore

Oh it still does. i still manage to fail with it after lockin onto a harrier:confused:

Oh yeah you can miss. THat happens with any of the lock on weapons. I always assumed it was designed that way to simulate real life. But it doesn't come an blow yourself up anymore like it was doing at some stage

Sometimes i miss & kill 1 of the opposition so its not all bad.
Yeah if you are extra lucky you might get more than 1!
