Most of the plumbing stores said the same thing.

It's for a valve. I need it to plug a hole that will no longer be used.

Ended up buying a pack of 5 from Ebay after too many puzzled looks from Irish suppliers.

Now in fairness if you went to a plumbing shop they are going to be puzzled and lets face it. Your not going to find them in tesco.

Well done anyway. If it were me and I could not find them i would have gotten a bolt and ptfe tape.

It's not a fitting thats commonly used so not readily available. Staff in plumbing suppliers are never really experienced in Plumbing, most of them being behind a plumbing counter is all they know. Throw a fitting thats never used much into the mix and they tend to be lost. The only solution is to describe intention of use for fitting.

looks kind of like the part in the grohe shower valve that you screw out to get at the filters .
as for the guys in the plumbing shops , most are useless ,just sales assistants but the lads in smallmans in ranelagh in dublin are excellent the know almost everything about everything .
