Just watching it now and Fiona Looney is doing a segment. Most of it was about the (crap) hotel she was in in Fuerteventura. John Creedon was in the Shetllands...Serious cutbacks in RTE?. Also the lovely Katryn has not been in it for the last 2 weeks and I have to try and admire Fiona Looney in a bikini!!

it's kind of odd. Seems like they just give all the RTE staffers and program contributors a free holiday and a camera.. Certainly not as good a show as The Holiday Show with Jon and the lovely Ciara. Good humour element to the show.

Why does the average holiday never never get a chance to make any of these holiday reports, why is it always someone who thinks they are famous for something or other, like Fiona Looney famous as a TWAT

Why do TV presenters present TV shows you mean?

They have members of the public doing reports sometimes. They're normally piss poor on camera though.

Fiona Looney is painful with old biddy attitudes, both on tv and radio.

She was on No Frontiers last year and took her family to France, she had no problem parading her own children on tv when they got a free holiday yet she has slated others who've had their own children on tv.

They usually do 1 domestic holiday, 1 European holiday & 1 far off holiday. I prefer they stuck to the realistic ones to be honest, not many people are going to be thinking of heading to a 5* resort in Mauritius at the moment.

KT was interviewed on Today FM lately and she said they wanted the holidays to reflect what people could afford at the moment, and not be swanning off to a 7 star in Dubai...........only Bertie could afford that now:D

Fiona Looney is a TV3 staffer. no? And isn't Jon Slattery an RTÉ staffer????

She's usually on the Gerry Ryan show once a week, often on Midday on TV3.

Fair enough, though I still like to dream about the far away places...
Saw KT a few years ago on No Frontiers in Vietnam, and that inspired me to visit there. We can all dream.. I have to admit, I don't think I will be going to Furteventura any time soon, it's just not my thing. What about doing a series of travelling to cheaper, more interesting places, say Eastern Europe? I am enjoying the city breaks by that guy Fionn, interesting one on London.

No frontiers without Kathryn is a dead loss..Twub be like watching the weakest link without Anne..

Fionn is good, having lived in London for over 12 years I still found his segment interesting.

Is he, I thought he ran his own company. Shur why else would she be with him??? Was he on something on RTE before though (continuity or something), cos he looks familiar ?

I think he is still doing continuity on RTÉ, I heard him on an ad a while ago.

Is it just me or does she have the weirdest eyebrows? I don't usually post about appearances so apologies to her. (and jon on the last thread a year ago I was just annoied that TV3 seemed to get a free show).

There was an article in a Sunday Paper that stated that No Frontiers is boycotting Ryanair, and is using Aer Lingus as their main airline to their destinations. Even when Ryanair airports maybe nearer and/or cheaper.
Bath in England was one example it was 20km from Bristol airport with Ryanair but they used Aer lingus which flew to an airport 70km away.

The Mail on Sunday I believe ran it.

They usually get it wrong. I can't imagine RTÉ telling an independent producer only to use Aer Lingus.

I always have to laugh after the apprentice on TV3 every week there is an ad for Fiona Looney's "Incisive Apprentice Commentry" in some rag - I think its the Star. Im sure Fiona is a lovely person but to be fair when she speaks or expresses her opinion its usually far from incisive.

She's a gobsh1te and will often try to make a comment to get a reaction and then in the same breath will back track, just listen to her when she's on the Gerry Ryan show, that's if you can stomach listening to her.

    No its the Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail - I read it for the first time a week ago while waiting in an airport and I was genuinely horrified at how bad it was. I had heard people giving out about it before but it really is a stinky pile of manure.

The fact that Fiona Looney writes in it is no surprise.

I sent an email to No Frontiers asking when Katherine Thomas will be back and got a reply saying she'll be on this Sunday.

I also expressed my views on Looney and that was before I saw her on today's Midday show on TV3. I only say the last section and Looney made a complete fool of herself, she hadn't a clue what the differences were between organic, free range and battery farm chickens. The other 4 shot her down pronto but not before she made a tit of herself.

I find it depends on what she is wearing.
