Ok, I know this might seem like a strange question. But basically I was having trouble with the desktop keyboard (usb) the last few days & when I woke up this morning it had gone completey dead.

I wouldnt mind using the on-screen keyboard for a day or 2 till I can get a new keyboard but the thing is I have a password set & I cant actually log in to my desktop to use the on-screen keyboard.

So I was wondering if there was any way to use the laptop as a keyboard or anyway I could log in to the desktop without a keyboard.

    Any suggestions?

boot into safemode, pretty sure that allows you to call up the on screen keyboard

Nah, have to use the keyboard to actually get on safe mode first.

hmm... it's a long shot, but I'm guessing if you don't have a spare keyboard lying around you aren't going to be using a version of Windows with RDC enabled or have a set IP address.

But, you might as well try this if you can, someone may have been over to your house before and enabled it.

Network the PC and laptop, boot the PC to the login screen. Open up the client of RDC on your laptop and try and connect to the IP address of the desktop PC. If you get prompted for login details you're in. Just log in with your Desktop PC's details and you should be able to remove the password on your user so that it will automatically login the next time you restart the PC.

EDIT: If you want to see if the desktop PC has an IP address or even a network name use this tool to scan the network from your laptop http://www.radmin.com/products/utilities/ipscanner.php
