England vs Pakistan tickets

Am going to be in London next August and the weekend I'm there is the 4th/5th day of the 3rd test against Pakistan in the Oval.

Never been to a test match before, am definitely interested in going to see this one though. Unfortunately I'll be going to see Arsenal on the Saturday as long as they are playing at home, so I don't know if I can buy a ticket to the 4th day yet. I don't want to spend £61 to then find out I can only make the morning session.

How quick do these test matches usually sell out? Given the large Pakistani population in England I would guess this will be a popular match to go to. The football fixtures for next season won't be released til mid June, so I won't know what day I can go on til then. What's the deal with getting tickets for the final day if it goes ahead? Do you just pay at the gate, I'm guessing you won't have to pay the full £61.

Unfortunately I'll be going to see Arsenal.

    That is unfortunate:)

You normally have about a 1 in 4 chance that Arsenal will be at home on a particular day (50:50 home or away and 50:50 Saturday or Sunday)

The London tests do sell out quite quickly, particularly the weekend days. Having said that, the 4th and 5th days are normally the slowest selling days. The difference here is the 4th and 5th days are on the Saturday and Sunday.

I don't think the 5th day tickets will sell out at all for a match against Pakistan, but the 4th day probably will do. The real problem is that the Premiership fixtures will be out in June, but Sky/ESPN tend not to finalise their choices for live coverage for a few weeks

The additional factor is if Arsenal are involved in the Champions League qualifiers. If they are due to take place the following week, Arsenal would have a strong preference for a Saturday match (and Sky/ESPN usually co-operate)

Hence my recommendation would be to try for the Sunday of the Oval Test, but don't commit to buy until the Premiership fixtures are finalised - as I suspect you may well get away with turning up on the day anyway

I wouldn't bet on a test match involving Pakistan lasting more than 3 days .....with the first test XI effectively banned for life cant imagine what sort of team will turn up in England!!:D

Yeah that's my worry. In a perfect world Arsenal would be playing at home on the Saturday, and the test match would go right to the wire on the Sunday and I could just pay at the gate on the day.

However I'd fancy England to make light work of a depleted Pakistan side at home. Doubt it would last 5 days unless there is rain.
