For those interested in Educate Together, there's an online petition here:

    http://www.gopetition.com/online/34193.html

...for anybody who'd like to register support!

Do those on-line petitions even work (other than for the advertisers) ?

Surely people would be better with a written one, or better still directly contacting their local representatives/party.

For the amount of effort it takes to sign, I don't see a reason not to.
But your idea would have a much stronger impact.

I think they're useful in showing whether or not there are many internauts out there who enjoy signing petitions like this. Outside of that, unless the number signing goes into the hundreds of thousands, then -- worthy and all as it is -- I'd wouldn't imagine it's going to achieve much.

Power to the people. The last ET petition got 4,000 signatures. Hopefully this one will beat that.

Politicians do whatever it takes to get them elected. If they see there's a huge ground swell of support for ET schools, well then they have a much better chance.

300+ signatures. When was it started, I can't see a date.
    Edit: Ahh, the 13th.

The Educate Together page on FaceBook is already promoting the petition, but I'm (almost) sure they'll be happy with whatever promotion that people can come up with.
