Last time they stocked bird food they had bags of wild bird seeds that I don't see on the website this time around. All very small seeds. I hope they will stock it as I am down to my last bag and the linnets love it.

    Aren't they these?

    Excellant going to stock up.

Do they ever put in seeds that the birds aren't too fond of as a filler?

No, they had a finer seed mix too, very small seeds. Hope they have it again, my linnets are up to 30 and very hungry!

My local tesco has 12kg wild bird seed for 11.25e. Also selling off all the bird food.

    So what did folks get?

A parental very kindly got me a bag of Sunflower Seeds (look v.good quality, nice size and no dust), a bag of peanuts and two bags of oat flakes covered in fat.

What is the latest date that peanuts should be put out at?

The oat flakes are they suitable for spring/summer or should I keep them for next winter (will be kept inside a biscuit tin)

We have this in our garden, could it manage the oat flakes or the fat make a mess if it gets a bit warm.

I'd keep the Lidl oatflakes until it gets cold again - they are fat soaked so the birds will appreciate the extra energy in cold weather. Ordinary porridge oats are fine and cheap for now. You could try them in your feeder but I usually sprinkle them on the ground and on the bird table. The Lidl ones may well stick together in warm weather and block the feeder from working properly. Make sure water can't get in or they'll swell up and stick inside!
