    Read this short story here

And I was interested in reading more on the topic .. apparently Vernor Vinge has written some fiction based on the topic.

    Interviewed here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHqNl44JWD8

Just wondering if anybody could recommend one of his books.

Currently reading his short story collection. Pretty decent mix from about the '60s onwards. They don't seem as "old" as some other writings from that era - he seemed to get a relatively decent hold on technologies. Writing style is pretty decent and he's got some good ideas in his head (although nothing as interestingly feverish as Charles Stross, to whom you linked).

I've also got "Rainbow's End" but I haven't read it yet!
