okay so i dropped out of collage, offically on the 26th of feb,
but i hadnt been in since start of dec, nd wasnt there much neways, hated the course

i plan on goin to lyit nxt year to do games development,

now onto the grant circumstances, i only received, 2 payments i think, maybe 3, was gettin them monthly,

am i entitled to anything at all next year since i havnt got it all?? i only got bout 30% of it.

is it worth even applying for the grant??

or is there any other funding available, as theres not much chance of me goin back if not, both parents nd myself are on the dole

and is there any extra fees that id have to pay??

If you dropped out of college at this stage, then you'll have to pay full fees for first year if you return. It doesn't matter how much time you spent in the college, or attending lectures, the college at a certain point does a count of the number of students and forwards this to the government for paying the fees.

There are cut off points as to when you can drop out for some colleges, and have benefits left for if you return (full fees, half fees or no fees are generally the cut offs)

Same I would say applies for a grant I'd imagine - if you've already applied for a first year grant, you're not going to get another one.

Right well first of all it's ''college'' not ''collage''!

You dropped out February 26th, so you missed both the October 31st and January 31st deadlines, that would require you to pay no tuition (October 31st) and half tuition (January 31st), so officially you will have to pay full tuition next year. However, ring the college asap, and ask them whether or not they have confirmed your attendance with the HEA. They can be late doing this. If not the college has not received it's 2nd instalment of tuition from the government (on behalf of you) and therefore when you officially dropped out, the government only paid half your tuition. It's all a matter of whether they sent off the list to the HEA yet or even before February 26th.

What level course were you doing before and what level is the one you want to do next year? You are not eligible to apply for a grant if you are doing the 1st year of another course or repeating a year. However, If you were doing a level 7 course and want to do a level 8 course next year, then you are eligible to apply for the grant. They are so mean on this that even if you did not apply and therefore receive a grant in your 1st year, you are still not eligible to apply in the 1st year of your new course.

Then the individual colleges have their own rules also. CIT for example has the following: If you were doing a level 8 course and drop out and want to do a level 7 course next year, you will not be charged tuition. It baffles me to be honest!

i emailed the "collage" yeaterday, waitin on a reply,

was doin a lv 7, so if i was to do a level 8 id get the grant, hmm thats a bit silly, would the tuition fees also be paid??

course i was lookin at was lv 7, only 2 places have it lv8, dundalk(which i didng get into last year), and athlone,
mite look around for some other lv 8's,
problem is i didnt get 2 higher level c's in my leavin, so chances are i wouldnt get in,
can anyone reccomend some low requiremant level 8 computer courses??
