    Hey,
Thinking of this course in UCC, anybody have any personal advice, information, how they found it etc?

    Thanks a million :)

Sorry bout the late reply, just saw the post there.

I'm in second year social science and its grand out.

Its very interesting- you''ll do Sociology, Social Policy, Psychology, Philosophy and Economics in first year. Work pace is very relaxed, only an essay every few weeks. you don't have to sign for anything, all goes up on blackboard. Pretty much all of it is relevant to you.

However,if yo don't like it- not interested in politics etc. (not that you ahv a political view, but can be critical yourself) then you''ll be lost. It really is a course you have to want to do.

What do you mean by political? As in, I'm pretty oblivious to politics but I would be pretty aware of current events and topics, and I would have an opinion on most things.

    Thanks

Its not essential, alot of people i know in the course werent even aware of left or right wing, but from my experience, being aware of current events and topics makes the course a whole lot easier. I was just saying that having an interest in Ireland's current state would help alot as thats what you''ll be dealing with in second year.

I'd say even if you have only a minor interest in the subject, do it. Its not difficult and is very interesting and worth while.
