Just read this over on DS
I have just seen on another thread - SKY+, that EXISTING SKY+ customers are getting their HD boxes FREE, with FREE Installation and FREE HD Subs for 12 MONTHS !!!!!!!!
No HD sub for 12 months....

Any truth in this and more importantly will it cover Ireland ?

I haven't heard anything Redout. Was it from an Agent or through Sky Direct?

    That's some offer.

I am not sure. There is a thread about it over on Digital Spy and this is definitely a real deal they are offering as some people have said that they have already ordered it whilst others have received letters and phonecalls from Sky about it.

Redout, do you have a link for that?

I don't understand how they're doing the offer, they might as well just replace all Sky+ with HD. The term of the HD Sub is 12 months anyway so they have nothing to gain by doing it. Unless there are terms and conditions. Or maybe depending on people to follow up with upgrades to the HD pack.

Oooh this is interesting. I shall be following this thread with anticipation. I'll jump on HD as soon as Sky remove the monthly subscription.

That is most likely because you spoke with Sky Ireland.

Sky Uk and Sky Ireland do not always have the same deals for customers.

We usually get worse deals and then have to wait longer to get the good ones.

That is why I asked in my original post could someone confirm this for Ireland.

I rang sky Scotland and can confirm it's a trial run by sky to see will it be popular, only a select few got it

the customer care person I was talking to says "they maybe dropping the sub"

That appears to be the most likely explanation. On the Sky Ireland site its 60 yoyos to connect if you want to pay for the HD channels or 99 yoyos if you dont.

I wonder would it be tied into a Broadband/Telephone line contract in the UK??

I do not think so. There was no mention of that.

    :(

would have jumped at that deal.

I aint going near Sky HD if I am required to pay €15 a month.

It is nothing more than a rip-off as Sky Italia offer HD for free!

As do BBC, ITV and later this year C4 and Five

Im sure if you threaten to cancel your Sky sub they would offer a similar deal.
