Could you expand a little bit more on that? Please.

It looks very good. I'm going to try and see it over the weekend.

All the radio reviews I've heard so far are rating it well, and they usually hate everything.

Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon together will always get my attention!! I'll probably head to see it later tonight. In work so all the review sites are blocked.... hope it's good!

    I saw it last night,

I enjoyed it. It's not as good as bourne but still well worth a look,

I thought Greg kinner was very good in it! Matt Damon was his usual excellent self and I didn't know Brendan gleeson was in so it was a nice surprise!

Saw this tonight and I was disappointed. Ok it was never going to be as good as bourne identity but it was so predictable and I found that even the big action scene near the end was boring. Surprised me that it got so many good reviews and also got 7.3 on IMDB which is pretty decent.

I saw it earlier tonight because Shutter Island was sold out and didn't enjoy it. It was a run of the mill "American solider has to get to the truth of political meddling during a war" with crappy explosions and added shaky camera chases that have become a trademark for Mr Greengrass.

I didn't like it either, the action isn't great but you still get that shakey-cam style all over the place, which I found really nauseating.

The plot is a bit....obvious or something? No great surprises. I know it's getting a lot of praise for being 'of the moment' but I have to admit, the Iraq setting (cinema wise) is all played out for me.

So, the action is a bit bland and you've a fairly good idea where the plot is going. I just don't understand why this film exists, or why anyone would bother to go see it. It's like they tried to give the film a message, but keep it fun with explosive action and they failed on both fronts.

I much preferred the series Generation Kill, set during a similar period of time. It's more realistic and interesting compared to 'Matt Damon goes rogue with his own intelligence'.

I'm really surprised at how the critics are lapping it up. I was sickened by Kermode's non-review on his podcast. David Morrissey was on and they basically chatted about how great the film is in lieu of actually reviewing it. Kermode and Mayo are such lick-arses for certain actors and directors but that's another thread.

I blame Hurt Locker to be honest! It focused on a solitary soldier enveloped in the web of war. Green Zone tried to do similar and failed.

Was such a let down. I think it was the trailers fault. I mean I was expecting a good mindless action flick, not The Firm with sand and "hoo-ra"'s. I was almost expecting someone to shout out "you can't handle the truth". Such a let down.

    Very Average imo.

If you like going to the cinema and want to be midly entertained, then go for it.

As a film though it was very forgettable.

    Thought it was shocking.

At most, I'd give it 2 stars out of 5.

Action not half as good as the Bourne movies, the plot was too one dimensional.

And Greengrass better stop making shaky-cam pics real soon or I'll consider him a one-trick-pony.

Have to agree and add my dissapointment to this one.

I thought some of the fight scenes were alright but everything else about it was sort of cringeworthy or something.

I was very disappointed with this film - especially given the critic reviews: -

    - The plot could be summarised on the back of a stamp. If they were going to part-fictionalise something (which they did) they should have gone further and made it more interesting.
    - The action sequences weren't exciting
    - Acting was ok but there wasn't exactly a lot of scope for the actors

Other films based around Iraq and the middle-east in general such as "The hurt locker", "Syriana", "Kingdom" and even "Body of Lies" are much superior.

I liked it and thought it was better than the hurt locker... there, i said it!

Saw this recently and thought it was great. Ordinarily run a mile from anything with explosions but I thought it was actually quite edge of the seat stuff. Yes, probably the plot could be written on the back of a stamp but big action movies that aspire to telling a strong political story are fairly thin on teh ground and the fact that this political story is an entirely plausible imagining of what actually happened in Iraq makes it a hugely worthwhile film.

    So you're not a fan?

I'm going to go see this tomorrow night anyway, I heard that Bourne 4 is definitely not on the cards so this is as close a fix as fans will get. Such a pity, but then where was there for Jason Bourne to go after the last film???

Thought this film was excellent. Much darker and very edgy. Best film of the year 10/10

It is what happened in Iraq. If you believe No End In Sight's version of the events. Which is why it's a good film. Mainstream exposure of why the war in Iraq was so badly botched due in part to greed, but mostly as a result of naivety and incompetence.

    Ha ha, good one.

Yep, I believe it is ENTIRELY plausible
that the US didn't particularly investigate the intelligence that lead them to believe Iraq had WMDs ready to deploy. The rest of the stuff, Martin Brown, Al-Rawi, car chases, bags stuffed with dollars, Freddy - well, I never said it was a documentary

I thought it was ok, nothing great. I probably wouldn't buy it on dvd unless it ends up at €5 or €6 though. I'd agree with whoever said Generation Kill and Hurt Locker blow it away. I avoided all the reviews completely & barely saw one trailer in advance so went to it with not many preconceptions but hoping it would be very good. It's certainly not crap but it's not an all out action movie and there isn't much depth to it either - it kind of falls between car-chase action-shoot em ups and suspense political-thriller movie. Kinnear was good, Damon was ok, Brendan Gleeson was the most interesting character in the film and also the best actor - not on the screen enough imo.

if you fancy a night at the cinema and there is nothing else on, then go for it.

The trailers for it made it look quite good and I was looking forward to seeing it so it was a real let down. The shakey cam was really annoying too, imo.

Nowhere near as good as Bourne but as I said, there are worse ways to pass 2 hours of your time.
