Apparently there was an unidentified package found in the flats and they are waiting on the bomb disposal unit to arrive to investigate it. The area is blocked off

road is clear now anyway. Earlier rumour was that feuding families from limerick were involved. Was a heavy police presence for most of the day.

Army bomb disposal experts have carried out a controlled explosion on a viable device discovered in Co Clare earlier today.

It was discovered by gardaí in a vacant apartment in Shannon shortly before 1pm.

The Kincora flats complex was evacuated but residents have since been allowed return to their homes.

Forensic experts are now examining the apartment and the remains of the device
