TCD Part-Time MSc in Civil Eng

Has anyone completed the TCD MSc in Civil on a part-time basis?

I'm currently working full-time in a non-eng related job, but it's well paid and there's good prospects. That said, I'd ideally like to work in an eng job if I can, so I figured picking up good business experience while studying more until the jobs market in engineering picks up.

The thing is, I'm not sure if I'd be able to make arrangements for part-time study if the modules are all during working hours.

So if anyone has any feedback on this, I'd be much obliged.

    Thanks!

Mods: I thought the eng forum would get better replies as the TCD forum is for more generic TCD queries. If not, feel free to move!

I did it. The only thing you'll get out of it is an the MSc at the end of your name. Looking back I wished I did something else but it was handy for me. Did it part time and didnt have to far to go

I think as its a taught course what you get out of it is limited. The course is no different than 4th year in trinity (and in some cases exactly the same)

Thanks for that-what was the timetable like? My main concern is the schedule and trying to get time off work.

As for the MSc at the end of my name-if it keeps my mind fresh on Eng stuff, I'd be happy enough with that. :D

I worked 9-5 and did my 6 hours a week of lectures. As long as my normal work was done, that I could attend all the meetings and stuff like that my boss didnt mind.

I missed a few lectures to attend meetings and lost a lot of weekends to study/assignments ect. It was all do able but I'm not sure if it was worth it.

On the plus side I will be presenting my thesis at two conferences in the summer

Thanks for the feedback. Once it's possible to fit work and meetings in around the study that's the main thing. I actually only work down the road from Trinity, so it's convenient in that sense.

My undergrad thesis got some good feedback, so the lecturer's agreed to continue on it as my project for the masters, so it's more to pursue that really, but not as a research masters as I want to keep on working.

Hopefully the job'll facilitate me doing the lectures!
