    What damage? Probable costs involved?

Also your insurance may be invalid if you don't mention the extra two points.

    2 bumpers

If the other driver is agreeable, i'd keep a claim that low off the inurance

Get him to sign a letter stating the payment is full and final settlement and don't lose it!

firstly high horse... lying to your insurance company can result in them cancelling your policy... with all respect... its not worth it long term..

    Secondly... off high horse...
I would report it to them, and tell them you are settling it yourself, minor damage..
as you are not claiming from them.. your NCB should not be affected at all.

If someone tried that on me i'd hang up and let my insurance company deal with the claim.

OP - The other party decides whether or not to go through insurance. If they're OK with it, it might be better for you to just pay for the damage yourself, but you have to tell your insurance company about the accident. My advice is to see what quote they come back with, and then decide.

from experience, try to keep it outside insurance as it it will cost you more in the long run.

And ive also found that when people hear your insurance will deal with it they dont give a flying 'f' of the costs and then your premium is hit heavily.

Try to agree a fix with the guy. Most people are generally ok with this and you both can be happy.
