Hi guys, just wondering if anyone can enlighten me as to why the taxes to Thailand have gotten so expensive? Its 2003 since I've been out but the taxes were feck all and now I've seen flights for about €500/€600 but when you add tax it was working out at around €900:eek::eek:

It depends where you are flying through - Uk, Netherlands, France & Germany are all about €300.00. If you go via Abu Dhbai they aren't as bad about €190.00 but the airfare may be higher.

the problem is that the Airlines usually also "hide" their fuel surcharges in the Taxes/Fees, which are often more then the actual taxes.

We booked with SAS for June, and it came to 330 Fare + 290 Taxes, .i.e. 620 all in.

Wow, that wasn't a bad price, did you book direct with them and was there any restrictions on that flight?

Yeah, we booked directly on www.scandinavian.net . They were a bit cheaper then the same flights on ebookers or gohop etc.

Maximum stay is 3 months iirc, and all the usual rules for discounted tickets applied, i.e. no changes no refund.

I booked with www.clubtravel.ie for 720 Euro return. It can be obtained cheaper but I was restricted on my dates.
