    Hey guys,

Has anybody been interviewed for the EOP programme this year? I had my interview to get onto the shortlist today and wondering if there's anybody else out there who wants to keep track of their progress on here to see how everyone gets on or if people get accepted...

    Anybody out there? lol

    Cheers,

    Dec.

Hi, I had my interview this week, felt that it went well. Pretty standard questions, felt that I answered everything they asked. How did you find it?

They said that we would hear in May! Think this is just the start of the interview process, and from their website they got 500+ applications, and if the panel they form has 200 people on it, the interviews are going to take ages!

500+ applications? I pity the two interviewers lol...

Glad to hear it went well for ye... I thought it was pretty good too, they just asked me a few questions about my degree and placement experience... Then your man David threw a scenario at me about two job specs and asked me which one i'd go for based on the information he was giving me... the only question that caught me was...

"ok your infront of the CEO and you have 30 seconds to convince him your the man for the job, what do you say? go!" lol I never spoke as fast in me life... i just remember throwing in some key words like determination and leadership qualities!

So not sure how the end of the interview went but overall I think it went well.

Well I hope you get accepted anyway, Ill keep an eye on here and update if I hear anything

Ya I got that job scenerio questions as well, gave me two job descriptions and had to pick one. I wasnt sure if it was a trick questions or something! So I said that I would be happy to do either role, but I though my experieince would be a little more suited to one of them.

I didnt get asked the standing in from of a CEO one, I did have to give my opinion as to what marketing was, give my best definition from experience.

Same as you went down through my CV, education, experience etc. One question was give a situation when you had to deal with a difficult client. Another was list your 3 more valuable charactertistics for someone who would want to hire you.

At the end there was a chance to ask questions, so I asked about the postgrad accreditation, I hope he didnt think that was the only reason I wanted to get a placement as it really isnt. Other than that felt it went very well!

Great to hear from someone else who did it. I will also keep an eye on the thread, and will post once I get word from them!

Best of luck to you too!! :)

I have an interview for the EOP programme tomorrow, so just trying to do some prep for it. I'm going to be finished college in 6 weeks time and I'll have a BSc in Valuation Surveying so don't know how it will be looked at in the interview considering I have no background in sales/marketing.

But its no harm in going for an interview for something completely different, especially if it offers us Irish Grads an opportunity to get some international experience straight out of college.

One of my friends had her interview a couple of weeks ago and they told her that the number of applicants this year had fallen considerably so you never know what our chances will be like.

If anyone out there has completed the EOP Programme it would be great to hear about your experience and give us some insight into what we'd be expected to do.

    Hey guys,

I had my interview last week. I thought it went quite well but there were some tricky questions about marketing that I just had to do my best to answer! I come from a humanities background so I study languages, but have never studied business. Has anyone heard back about getting onto the panel?? I'm not going to get my hopes up, especially since a lot of people with masters in marketing applied this year. But if anyone hears anything back, it'd be great to find out!

    Thanks a mill! Good luck!

    Hey,

I accepted a place on the EOP and was just wondering did anyone hear back from them with a confirmation of acceptance or any interview offers????
Kind of paranoid they didn't get my acceptance or something!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6 redfox86

    Hi Mary,

I accepted a place on the shortlist via email... I think it was around the middle of May?

They don't reply saying that they've got your acceptance so I wouldn't worry... but if you want to put your mind at ease send a quick mail to Grainne to make sure..

After I confirmed my acceptance on the shortlist I heard nothing, but I got an email last week inviting me to an interview so I'm sure you'll be on it! lol

    Good Luck!

Thanks for that info, and good luck in the interview. Did they tell you who it's for?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6 redfox86

    Yeah,

they provided a job spec... it's for RR Donnelley Global Turnkey Solutions (they do a lot of supply chain outsourcing)...

I must have been selected because I have experience in the procurement side of supply chain management, and I mentioned at the EOP interview I was interested in supply chain roles if any came up.

Not sure how it's going to go, I'm finding it hard to prepare for it because I don't know a lot about the company, but we'll see...

    Hope you hear something soon!

Sounds good. It's promising you're getting interviews already. Hope it goes well!

    Hey,

I was accepted for the shortlist mid May but haven't heard anything yet about interviews. Anybody else in a similar position? Anybody know if you can defer your place on the shortlist to next year aswell as i'm thinking about going travelling if i'm able to do so!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 26 brndonnie

No your not alone. I have heard nothing since accepting my place. Makes you wonder about the level of demand out there for qualified grads even when they are provided at minimal expense.

Redfox - how did the RR Donnelly interview go?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8 chuffed

    Hey,

I got through to the EOP programme there. Got RR Donnelly.

Its worth deferring for a year if your on it as there was a great response from employers this year and for the first year ever, everyone on the course is placed. Great opportunity, and good to keep your options open.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 26 brndonnie

    Chuffed are you on something...?

The majority of contributors to this forum have already been accepted onto the shortlist. From my perspective I have heard NOTHING from the guys in IBEC so not sure where you are getting "great response from employers this year and for the first year ever, everyone on the course is placed" as I certainly have not been even interviewed let alone placed.

    Get your facts straight.

There are over 100 applicants on the short list. Something you are on.

Im on about actual placements with a company while also doing the DIT masters programme. There are only 30 places on it and this year all 30 were filled with people in placed jobs.

I am on the EOP shortlist this year but have not heard about any interview yet. Just wondering if anyone has heard about any of the marketing jobs e.g. with Diageo etc?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 24 mary.

I haven't heard anything about Diageo. There was some marketing jobs with Apple a few weeks ago, friend of a friend got one....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3 mdc26

Thanks mary...what country was the Apple job in?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8 chuffed

    They are all in Cork.

But there is always the potential to go to the USA with them as previous graduates did.

Is the IBEC scheme only open to graduates from 2010? My degree is three years old this year.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 26 brndonnie

The scheme is closed for the year as the 2010 allocation is now filled. I suggest you keep an eye open early in 2011 for entry but speaking for this year you are okay if your degree is over 4 year since you received it (as mine is). I got on the scheme for this year and an older degree did not preclude me from joining the scheme.

Best of luck next year, perhaps you will have more success than I have.

Just wondering whether anyone knows if it is possible to defer a place on the shortlist until next year at this stage?

    thanks

Yep I know its a bit late for a response but I deferred mine last year. Is there anyone else still waiting for a job interview or anyone after reactivating their status?

Im being let go this month so looks like a good time to give it a go..

Any info out there on volumes of people who got a placement etc..?
