I recently came across a situation I haven't before come across on pokerstars.

this is the email sent to them, and the email received from them.

    Thoughts and opinions please.

    to whom it may concern,
This is regarding tournament ID 301010873 and hand number 40983823591.
The_Baffer limped in under teh gun for 4,000 chips. The blinds are 2,000
and 4,0000. Feliscaracel then went all in for 7,860. since i was in the big
    blind, i decided to call thinking that The_Baffer could NOT raise behind me;
since feliscaracel's all in for 7,860 did NOT reopen the betting since it
    was an underraise.

How was The_Baffer allowed to reraise in this situation if feliscaracels
all in is for less than an opening raise and in fact an underraise?

This cost me a very important amount of chips at this stage in the
tournament and actually put me on tilt after wards. Surely this is an
    underraise?!¬?!?!??!?!
    Looking forward to reply, xxxxxxx

    Hello Xxxx,

    Thank you for contacting PokerStars.

The reason it appears that this player was able to re-open the betting is
due to the way our software reads the play of the hand.

At the start of the hand, our system actually regards the small blind as the
original bet, and the big blind as the first "raise". For example, please
consider the following hand with four players and their actions pre-flop:

    WelLookyHeA: posts small blind 150
    Ranners: posts big blind 300

    wildside9: calls 300
    Lucinda Luck: folds
    Jay_Smith_07: folds
WelLookyHeA: raises 165 to 465 and is all-in
    Ranners: calls 165
    wildside9: raises 1145 to 1610 and is all-in
    Ranners: folds

Normally player wildside9 should not be able to re-raise here as the all-in
bet of player WelLookyHeA is considered "Action Only", and does not reopen
the betting due to the all-in bet amount being less than the amount of the
    big blind.

However, our server reads this hand as an initial bet of 150 chips, followed
by a raise to 300, a call of 300, and then another raise of 165 chips. Since
this subsequent raise is at least as much as the previous "raise" in the
blinds; it actually reopens the betting.

While this is technically a design limitation in the software, it is a
situation that actually comes up very rarely in regular game play. We have
received very few questions about this over the past few years, and at this
time we have no plans to make any changes to the software regarding this issue.

We hope that this information clarifies the play of this hand for you.
Please let us know if we can assist you with anything else.

    Best regards,

    Subject: underraise issue.

From the APPT rules and regulations (Pokerstars live sponsored poker tour).

    13. Under-raises are only permitted if a player is going "all-in". Less than a full raise does not re-open the betting to a player who has already acted.

Seems a bit crazy that they are not willing to change this... Did you reply to them with rule 13., as posted above?
