    Hi everyone,

Is there any Dublin league players on the forum?

If so, do you know what the official ruling in regards to a miss is?

We use it, which I dont like, but only a maximum 3 misses, and no frame loss.

    Thanks,
    Gary

Hi, i hav'nt played in the leagues for about six years now, but when we played, the miss rule was active, we played 1st division, basically we just used common sense when we refereed a game, although some clubs were notorious for calling a miss even if it was an almost impossible escape! The three miss rule and forfeiting the frame was also in effect but that only counted when you could actually hit both sides of a red.

    Cheers Zach.

Yeah very similar to us, however it causes an issue sometimes.

Some clubs say it shouldn't be used, others say it should.

I personally think there should only be a miss called when an official ref is in charge. Theres too many home refs that take the mickey.

Is there an official ruling from DBSL on how it is enforced?

To be honest i don't think they have a ruling on it, any time we brought it up at a meeting we were just pawned off with the line 'use your discretion'.

This really annoys me. At the start of the year, I asked a player if there was a miss rule in division 2 and he started going mad at me and saying that they'd murder me out in his place if I even dared say the word miss. The following week a fella from another club put me back 3 times!
