Hey all, looking for a car for my brother. Would love to know what everyone believes to be the best car that fulfills all these requirements:

    Max 1.4L
    Hatchback
    less than 65k miles
    Price range 2k

    Cheers, Mick

Slightly off topic but OP why is having less than 65k on the clock a condition of your search criteria? Low mileage is not an accurate indication of how much use or wear a car has had.

I'd rather have a high mileage car with a fully documented service history with receipts than a low mileage car that the oil changed once in 10 years.

Hi everyone, thanks for the responses! Definitely will be considering all the input!!

@Bazz- my own personal preference is for a lower mileage when looking at low cc cars but I appreciate your point

    Cheers, Mick

    This.

And also if there's little or no service history, who's to say the "low mileage" car wasn't clocked at some stage?

Who's to say a "service history" hasn't been fabricated.
Who's to say if the garage actually carried out the work at all?
Who's to say if the correct oil/ parts were used?
    etc etc

I'm sure we all agree- buying a second hand car is essentially a risk. At least a low mileage car will have some resale value.... but just to clarify a service history is of course desireable... the criteria I outlined above was an indicator to get some opinions, not an exhaustive list of every thing I'm looking for!!!

A 1999/2000 version of any of these.
    Honda civic
    Mazda 323F
    Toyota corolla
    Ford focus

Take your pick. Forget about 65K mileage with a budget like that. Near impossible to find a car of that age with very low mileage.

Are a lot of these cars going to be scrapped as many dealers are offering additional deals in addition to the €1500...
