Just posting to rant at the unavailability of the 3rd and 4th year project room in the computing building. A sign says its reserved from 2 - 7 but there are images ghosting onto the machines right now. It's forced me to work (next to a 1st year who thinks typing really hard means hes working hard) on a machine that is slower than I'd like it to be.

While I'm here it also bothers me that they have labs on in there now. It's ment to be a project room. Whats next labs in the masters rooms? /end rant.

L125 is a terrible lab for working in. The third years (especially IS students) are the loudest **** on the planet. It's all very well and good for people who don't need to do any work to pass, but if you want to do some serious project work, you have to go to the library or barge into L128.

Don't lump your rage onto a first year. I'm in L125 now and there is a grand auld racket coming from the third years and the fourth years. It stretches across all years.

Yes, there is a lab on. But to call it a project room is a joke. It's a common room.

Try L114, L101. Move labs. There are different ones. L101 is probably your best bet. Failing that, if you want peace and quiet, the library is great.

It's only for one day that this lab has been booked. Nothing to lose the rag over.

It hasn't been one of those for quite a few years now. It's not monitored for quietness, and the loud people are not thrown out. So it has descended into a common room.

I gave up trying to use l125 last year during my 3rd year, I don't even attempt to try to get work done in there at all these days. Even the people that moan about the loudness wont shut up at times, they often tell the entire room to shush, only to be found an hour later shouting about youtube or something of the like. Sure if they aren't working its grand like?

I'm a class rep for a lower year but was at a program board meeting last semester where this was brought up. The best thing to do is go find the nearest lecturer. I'm not sure if Mike Scott has moved into the HOS office yet but that is right next door to L125. There are also several lecturer offices in L101. Several lecturers said in the program board meeting that if you find them and let them know there's a problem that they'll come and shout. I'm sure they'd keep an eye on it for a bit as well to make sure people don't mess too much.

Second years should really get at least one quiet lab. During semester 1 exams I asked a large group of first years to please shut up or move to another lab as I was trying to study for an exam. They were not happy and just slagged me. They were laughing and joking ridiculously loud at some YouTube video. I couldn't move labs as the same thing was going on in all of them. L101 is the worst. It's like that all the time.

ARE YOU SAYING I WAS LOUD, HAUK!?

Any lab is going to be noisy. Business school can be just as bad, like. At least the CTYI lot aren't being brought in around exam time. There was murder the year before last. First and second years had to use that project room as well.
