    Hello,

I need to have fingerprints done in order to obtain foreign police clearance certificates. Does anyone know of any companies in Ireland that do this privately? I have contacted the Gardai and they were unable to help me. Can anyone advise me please.

Why wouldn't they help you? If it is for an embassy then they usually do it. The fee is €20 for the first set and €10 for each subsequent set.

contact your local district or divisional HQ, your local station might not know about this, there is usually one Garda in the district assigned to do this, at least that's the way it's done here. Might just be that the member you were talking to didn't know it was possible.

Hi Foinse. I contacted them and to be honest have just been told contact this station and then when I do I get told contact the other station again. It is getting quite frustrating to be honest as I need to get his done as soon as possible and I just seem to be getting the run around. And while I know the Gardai are very busy I would like to get an answer from somebody who can help me make an appointment.

If anyone else in any business did this to you you would know what to do. Simply State that to them.

I had the same problem here with fingerprints. Division told me to go to my local station and the local station told me to go to division. I simply explained I had been to division and they soon bent over backwards to help us out.

That sounds pretty frustrating alright. Its just a matter of them taking your prints, its a 10 minute job and giving you out a receipt for 20 yoyos and recording it in a book.
Ring your local Station - ask for the number to the district office (it may be a different Station but get the number) and ask the girl/guy in the district office - how to go about getting prints for police clearance for your visa or whatever and tell them your story, they should definitely be able to help you or tell the guys at the station how to go about it.

Just to stick up for the original garda, I never knew that this was done until a few months after being attested. Don't think it was ever said in the college that this is a service that we provide.

Where does the 20 yoyos go to?

It is sent directly to the I/C office, after that I dont know but presume it goes into the District/divisional finances or to the Dept of Finance

    Sorry yeah,

I (taking the prints) would typically forward the 20euro to the district office with copies of receipts and a short report. Not too sure where it goes after that.

Hey sorry to bump the thread, but I need to get a fingerprint card done to send to a bar association in the US so I can take the bar exam.

Does anyone know if I can just go into the Bridewell tomorrow and have it done?

It varies from place to place, depends on the Gaurd you speak to and if he's busy or not. The best thing to do would be to offer to meet him by appointment when suits both. Also as far as i know the price has been increased to €50 or €60 .

It's €60 FS and €30 for any extra sets taken at the same time.

    That's spendy!

    Thanks though!

Ring them to see what their arrangements are. They may have a set time. I assume you mean Bridewell in Dublin. Their number in 01 666 8200.
