dovea have a choice of 19 belgian blue bulls ranging from easy calving to harder calved bulls which produce a bit more muscle.
i think it depends on which operator covers your area and how quickly they can come to do the job as there is plenty of choice in bulls between dovea or progressive.

One thing I've noticed with these AI companies is that they are a bit economical with the truth when it comes to selling the good points of the bull. Things like "easy calving" and "produces top class weanlings".

It is always worth checking out the bull on www.icbf.com to see just how good he really is.
Then, just use the bull on a few cows to see for yourself.;)

i was looking at the ibbcs website all of dovea`s blue specials are 25/30 euro per straw, the AI MAN would hardly call out for free.

the ai man charges 30 euro per service , the same price for the blue special bull . the man is a self employed technician with dovea.
never mind what the belgian blue site says its dated 2006 .
if you want prices ring your local dovea technician and he will tell you straight away.

ya they also charge me 30 for their blue bulls although I tried TZA on ped charolais cow which was 40 a pop and I think some of other charolais bulls were even more expensive

NCBC are €30 for any of the bulls and then €10 for a repeat. It was only €25 a pop 2 years ago and repeats free:mad:.
I think when the of milk price dropped a lot of milk guys stopped using AI and they upped their price as a result. To survive, I guess.

BTW, NCBC are made up of Sligo, Munster and Progressive Genetics. They're all the one now.

just got the dovea 2010 beef catalogue it states in the introduction that the semem in the specials section has an extra charge, it doesn`t state how much. i can`t see why there is not a price list with the bulls other details.....

    Have to disagree there.
I work in the A.I. industry (I wont say which company). A.I. has been steadily dropping for the past 20 years. (beef and dairy bulls combined) those there has been an up swing this year.

I would say NCBC cant be beaten for blues most of them come from BBG in belgium but dovea are the best for simentials as somebody else said
