... so someone stuck a meat thermometer in someones neck!!

No more cinema for me, I'm buying a Projector :p

    ____________________________________________________________________________________________

Story Version One (THE TRUE ONE)
LANCASTER, Calif. Authorities say a man was stabbed in the neck with a meat thermometer after asking a woman to silence her cell phone during a screening of the film "Shutter Island" at a Southern California movie theater.

Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says the stabbing happened Feb. 27 during a screening of the Martin Scorsese film in Lancaster. He says the two suspects remain at large.

Whitmore says the victim had complained about a woman sitting nearby who was talking on her phone during the movie. He says the woman left with two men, but the men returned minutes later and stabbed the victim in the neck.

Two other people in the theater came to the victim's aid and also were hurt. The man was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The sheriff's office says it knew the weapon used was a meat thermometer because the suspects left it behind. No further details were released.

Story Version Two (THE BULLS*IT ONE)
Shutter Island movie experience almost turned deadly for one film fan in Lancaster, California when she was attacked by a fellow cinemagoer after complaining about his cell phone use.

The unnamed woman was stabbed in the neck with a meat thermometer after grumbling about a phone conversation during the film at the Cinemark 22 theatre earlier this month.

Local police have gone public with the story after failing to track down the two men who attacked the victim during the Saturday night screening.

Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper, "It was a vicious and cowardly attack."

The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries.

What kind of oddball carries a meat thermometer around?

A knife, shiv, blade I can understand, but a thermometer? Oddest. Weapon. Ever.

    Title change :D

From Man asks woman in cinema to switch of her phone ..
    changed to
Someone asks someone else in cinema to switch of their phone ..

    Maybe it now is
Woman asks man in cinema to switch of his phone ..

    Stay tuned folks.

More reason for him to be carrying either a handgun, or a sawn of shotgun. Sure, they may have still stabbed him, but they'd be dead, or nearly dead now.

Nearly done might be more appropriate if the temperature is anything to go by.

It's America-they probably have little mini ovens built into the arm rests in the cinema, do your own bbq. Cooking utenstils optional.

It was dark and they wanted to see if she was hot. Where's the problem? Sure a bit of stabbin' never hurt anyone. I like to call it agressive insertion, nicer ring to it.

This is the whole point. Its bad enough when you see a person in front using the phone for texting but when someone is stupid enough to actually talk on the phone during a movie. Why do people have to keep their phones on, surely if they are expecting an important call the last place they should be is in the cinema and ruining other peoples entertainment which they have paid good money to see.

    Finally some facts.

The guy was actually in a coma for a week after the attack also.

*sorry about the racist title, only video source I could find*

Why be sorry? For one thing it's not racist, just a statement of fact. For another when the story mentioned "southern ca, america" plus "making excessive noise in a cinema" it was odds-on it was going to be a black person. Sorry (again) but that's just called playing the percentages.

Look, I'm as racist as the next guy (:p) .. but it was a *pointless* statement of fact.

Would a video say "Two white guys stabbed woman"?

"Two men stabbed Woman" would be fine.

They can say they are Black if we need to keep our eyes peeled, otherwise the information is useless.

In that case why not just say "two people stabbed person"? Why bring pointless facts such as gender into it?

    Humaphobe.

Two members of a certain species stabbed another member of their species.

    Lets go the whole hog.

The title screams racism, if it said: "Whites stab moviegoer.." would that be cool?

Why didn't it say: "Blacks stab WHITE moviegoer.."?

Maybe it does to you, but I don't think it's out of line especially if it turns out that it's a black on white crime. Speaking of which if it'd been a white on black crime I would expect/hope that fact to be highlighted just as prominently..

First of all, I am usually on the other side of this argument as I think people scream racism far too fcuking much these days and have had the implication that I am a racist thrown at me on threads a few times from the sanctimonious "right on" crowd.

So, trust me .. I don't see racism where it isn't.
    bonerm wrote: »

What do you expect, comparing colour to gender, come on.
    bonerm wrote: »
Maybe it does to you, but I don't think it's out of line esp if (as I suspect it's a black on white crime?).

I would be happy with: "Two Black Men stabbed moviegoer" but "Two Blacks .." nah, that's an bigoted agenda driven title for a video.

If so then that shouldn't be the case.

But I'm arguing for the case of full disclosure (against all races) rather just sweeping the info under the carpet for the sake of equality.
