Not at all! Once they are worn tastefully. I like them.

Agreed. Of course they can look terrible if they're worn with a tacky outift but wear something not too wild and they'll look fine!!

As with alot of things, depends on the entire outfit not just the tights themselves. I quite like them, and think that the woman in the middle picture looks classy. (I'm iffy about the other 2 outfits though, they're ok I guess but not as nice imo.)

    They can look fabulous with some outfits like these;

They don't have to be black either. I think gray, white and even bright coloured ones can work aswell.

Here's a good selection of outfits with a variety of different pattern tights.

I used to think so and never wore them, Especially hated those diamond pattern ones (still do) but more recently have started wearing them and worn right, they look nice

Well I was gonna wear them with this dress in grey: http://www.asos.com/Asos/Asos-Slip-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=876864&SearchQuery=slip dress&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=Black

Would that give the wrong idea?? Thanks for replies so far! It's good to get other people's opinions... :)

To be honest, I really don't like the dress at all. It looks very cheap and nasty and quite slutty.

    1. The fabric is vile
    2. There's too much going on - lace, zip, slip
    3. The cut is desperate.

I think that tights would only augment this.

I love patterned tights with certain outfits but I think if you're going to have the business of the patterned tights then you have to keep the rest of the outfit very plain and simple.

Okay, having looked at the dress, I don't think patterned tights are the way to go. I'm nt a mad fan of the dress, but as this thread is about tights to go with a dress, I don't think that's the dress to put patterned tights with. WAAAY too much going on with the sheen of it. Look at the model, she has plain black tights, simple and better. That's my bit of advice

I wouldn't wear patterned tights with this dress. Plain black might look ok.

Snap on the not wearing patterned tights with that dress. I do like them, in general, just not with that particular dress.

Would have to agree, Pattern tights can look fantastic,
Perhaps more suited to a classic design without so much detail.

Dress is tacky, the shine of the material is not flattering.

Absolutely OP. Go for it :)

Ok the dress is really not that disgusting I swear! It is not my usual style but saw it was on sale and thought why not :pac: Damn wish I never saw that thread saying Asos now accept laser!

Will just wear normal black tights though, think people are right about that. Thanks guys!

Err I would totally wear that dress with those tights. But depends what you look like yourself I guess. Only some people could pull it off.

From the pictures the dress isn't that nice looking but if you're happy with the combo then go for it OP.

Sluttiness is not just about the clothes but who is wearing them and how.

If a girl is slutty by nature then that will come across regardless of what she wears. By the same token, a classy girl may often get away with wearing things that are synonomous with slutty because it is only superficial and not intrinsic to her.

Personally, I'd leave off the patterned tights because they can be a bit busy but if you do wanna go with them, let the tights take the focus and keep everything else simple. Also, remember to take into account your hair, makeup and accessories, as these also contribute to the overall effect of the outfit.

That dress is lovely in the grey/silvery colour. But I wouldn't wear any tights at all with it.

With the black dress, I think plain black tights would look fine with it.
