View a 99 Mitsubishi Colt for my wife a week ago, seen the ads on Gumtree.ie the asking price is 2000euro.
We went to Finglas spending 3 hours return to house in Donnybrook via Dublin Bus.

When I saw the car first I like it for my wife and We need a car after i sold my Alfa Romeo as We notice How hard to travel with a child by bus.

I'm making a offer until I end up offering Him the asking price of 2000euro as the seller said He wouldn't let it go any penny less. After my offer He said that Her wife change Her mind selling it. So we went back home (seller wasting our time)

After 2 days He put the ads again and ask Him why Her wife change Her mind, He said His wife looking for more 2400e.

what can you say about this seller?

You can still see the ads on gumtree and donedeal now just search "automatic colt" It's the only 99 Colt (green) on that site.

Yeh I know and the only reason I pay asking 2000euro that day is We really need a car. My point is when I meet His asking price and travel to His place He said Her wife change Her mind selling it.

You are not suppose to do that when advertising things on sites, ie up the price. They obviously dont care about how far you traveled or the time taken out of your time. Greedy people and bad mannered IMO.

I was thinking of reporting it to the Gardai or Gumtree site as my opinion I am being played by those people, I'll still have the SMS as evidence when He said about asking me 2400euro. I think He only did that co'z He knows how badly I need a car that day.

Ignore him, forget the add and move on,plenty of good cars out there for that money and with antics like that he will be a long time selling it.

    Not worth getting upset about.

He sounds like an fcuking idiot.
I had my eye on a honda accord about 2 years ago that was advertised on carzone for a very good price.
He was near enough so i took a run out to see the car. When i tried to confirm the advertised price, he quickly informed me that the price had gone up by 500e but had no explanation? He also took great pride in telling me that there was lots of interest in the car.
So basically he'd lured people to the car with a false price in the hope that some poor fecker had travelled miles & would be willing to pay the new price out of desperation.
I can't really repeat the conversation that followed because a mod would ban me for using too much bad language but lets just say it was a heated debate.:D

Absolute moron & just plain sneaky.

there is a section on donedeal for reporting ads that are not genuine

you are within your rights to report the seller as it brings a bad name to donedeal

tell them your story and they might ban the seller from their site,as he deserves it.

    gumtree may have something similar

You are caught up in the excitement of buying a car, it happens to alot of people, sit back and relax, draw up a short list of cars you like, view all of them, making a list of pros and cons on each.
Arrange a second viewing on any car your really keen on, post a link for it here, some good mechanics on here who will advise you on your choice.
2k is alot of money to part with these days so please take your time and be patient it will benifit you in the long run.
Best of luck finding the right car.

Yeah going to the Gardai is a brilliant idea, let me know how you get on. I hope he gets sent down for playing you. After all you have the evidence...... lock him up

Thank you for all the idea and suggestion, appreciate all of that.

Lorelei Thousands Karate It's to harsh to ask to lock them up for such a small problem. The idea of my thread to to aware some buyers about this kind of situation.

Play him at his own game. Ring him up various different times ( with a private number) and and agree to view the car at various different times. Then sit back and take great pleasure in the fact that you know he's sitting in his house waiting on someone who isnt coming :D I'd say 5 different times over 2 days is enough :p

Nah f&$k him, keep going till the ad is gone.....

Better still, test drive it and burn the clutch out

If I we're knew that will happen I'll drive the car 60mph on the humps again and again :) But when I drove it for test drive, I'd be very careful as I'm thinking that would be mine that day

€2k for an 11 year old Colt is silly money in this market, no matter how desperate you are for a car. Something like this might be a reasonable alternative and you should get it for €1,800 or so with a bit of negotiation. You'll even have some limited amount of comeback on the basis they're a motor dealer.

Before you go to the Gardai just answer this question, what Law has he broken?

In case your not sure the answer is none, the way the seller is acting is ****y but not illegal.

My advice would be move on its a buyers market, you will find a car much easier then this guy will sell his.

Gumtree posting rules state, inter alia, the following:
Gumtree is not an auction site and we therefore request that ALL “For sale” ads contain a definitive price for the item. No ads stating “highest offer accepted” or “make me an offer”

Clearly the price here was not "definitive". I've just made the following complaint:
In reaction to complaints on the following website:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055851496

Seller using Gumtree as a medium to engage in improper sales techniques, offering a higher price on meeting with a potential buyer. Gumtree sales policy requires a "definitive price".

Syntax is a bit weird, but it's the best I could do with 300 characters.

    Anyone joining me on this?

Deffo report the ads on any site he advertises......Really bad manners to do that.....:(

Hope you find a better motor....lots of genuine deals out there...

Complaints reviewed and page removed in less than 3 hours. That was quick. Well done Gumtree!

Boards.ie scores a win for the little guy me thinks.

    Looks like you were 'Gazumped'.
Its a buyers market, you never offer the asking price(or pay it)!
They haven't a clue to its value,so when you offered asking price they thought you knew something they didn't.
Sorry to say but its as much your fault as theirs:)
