Can anyone recommend a Cat5e cable tester from Maplins?

Also has anyone got any recommendations for a 16 port gigabit switch and a patch panel from the likes of komplett.

Got there cheaper one before and it was awful brought it back and got the Atlas one. Komplett don't do patch panels, you will need a punch tool as well if your getting a patch panel. They only have one 16 port switch http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=319526

How good it is depends on how much traffic is going to be hitting it, may not have the internal bandwidth to be flaking multiple ports at the same time. Its as good as you will get for the money though.

You're not going to be doing much testing?

Many laptops with gigabit network cards can have broadcom drivers, these can be used to check for breakages in the cable, crossed pairs etc, and a guess at the distance of the break.

For a patch panel, cablemonkey.co.uk are handy enough when you're looking for small purchases of network cable, trunking etc. Easier than dealing with radionics or kedington.

For a switch, depends what you'll be connecting it to. It's not meant to be a backbone between other switches?
