On my mother's laptop, whenever she tries to connect to the internet (wireless) nothing comes up. The internet connection is being shown as connected.

On the 'diagnosis' on IE it said:

    'Windows Network Diagnostics - Error:
An installed Layered Service Provider (LSP) is malfunctioning.
Options: Removing the malfunctioning network component.'

    OS is Vista.

    Any suggestion/solutions?

Try LSPFix. Run it as administrator without changing any settings, it should tell you that a component is missing and to click Finish to remove it from the chain. Reboot once this is done.
