Alternative rock band in cork

I'm looking to put together something that combines alternative rock and post punk with some more electronicy kind of sounds; for example various Trip Hop acts, and various electronica. I'd like to say outright I'm looking for a "New" sound but I'm trying to avoid being too pretentious.

The closest bands to this would be Boom Boom Satellites(on the more upbeat side), Curve(some albums), and Switchblade Symphony(on the darker side). I also really like bands like Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Cinema Strange, Smashing Pumpkins, Kyuss/QOTSA, Trip Hop acts like Gorillaz, Sneaker Pimps, Massive Attack, Lamb, and some metal like Death and Opeth. I'm also quite influenced by electronica and video game music, especially of the 90s and from the Touhou Project and Umineko.

In general, a mix of 80s/90s goth and alternative, with some electronica and heavier guitars, and I really like the slightly avant garde nature of Cinema Strange - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhSt-b2L5Mc

I'd like to keep it fun and relatively casual, a bit rough around the edges, with an emphasis on going a bit mad live. Having someone with some level of production skills or good knowledge of music theory would still be very useful though, in case we decide to write a Symphonic Prog Death Metal masterpiece or something.

I myself play guitar and a bit of synth; preference would be on getting a second guitarist bassist. I would also like to look into working with people who play a variety of instruments(violin, sax, etc.), maybe even MCs or DJs on some tracks for the laugh.

I will probably be using guitar effects to create a lot of "electronic" sounds.

I'm open to doing different arrangements of the influences I've listed, for example a more metal orientated act, a more trip hop orientated act, etc., as well as bringing in influence from different genres as long as I get to cover some of the post punky kind of ground.

Think I may have to give up with this :/ There doesn't seem to be anyone that mad interested in the genres I listed at the moment down here, even broadening my spectrums a little there's still nothing giving.

Quite possibly. I sing a bit myself but I'm not great. I am pushing a bit more for instrument players at the moment, as I've had an offer or two from vocalists but no Bassists or guitarists with enough of an overlap, but I'm open to anyone musical. If you have some friends you could rope in that'd be great.

I'm 23 btw(going on 24). A lot of older musicians seem to prefer to keep within their age group, so I thought I'd mention it. Personally I'm not all that bothered.

Feel free to drop me a PM to tell me about yourself, it's always nice to meet up with people anyway. Female vocals are pretty useful since I'd have a lower vocal range and a lot of my influences are female fronted.

Hey. I'm a 24 year old guitarist. I've been looking to set up something in the vain of Katatonia and Anathema with some other prog influences along with some of The Cure and some drone stuff too maybe. Any use to you?
