Bloody hell! This 'prison' sounds nicer than most hotels I've stayed in.

    Has the world gone mad?

Prison bosses are about to open the world's most luxurious jail with flatscreen TVs, its own recording studio - and even Banksy style murals.

The £160 million prison, near Oslo, Norway, gives 252 inmates a single en suite cell with its own bathroom and windows without bars.
Inside the maximum security prison, authorities have lavished more than £1 million on modern art, and even provided prisoners with a climbing wall.
Governor Arne Hoidal - who opens the jail next month - said: "We are very proud of what we have achieved.
"None of the windows have bars and they are made of unbreakable security glass so that people do not feel too claustrophobic."

Norway, and Scandanavia in general, has some of the lowest rates of recidivism in the western world. I'd say whatever they're doing is worth emulating.

Was gonna make a pun about prisons, but there's Norway I'd go Oslo as that.

    I'd stay there.:p
That will hugely increase the amount of re-offenders, imo and if it's high security it could mean more fighting and stuff in lower security prisons to get there.

As opposed to en-suite without its own bathroom?

An en-suite cell without its own bathroom is just a cell with another smaller adjoining cell.

It's all well and good it being like an apartment, but remember, you are not allowed leave!!

So unless they have internet with access to boards it's no good to me!

There would always be the chance that people without much to lose would break the law to try and end up in there. Could happen.

They might have lowest rates of reoffenders, but I doubt anything like that here.
I can imagine the thought of prison being like a holiday would only makes things better for the scum here.

So what? Maybe some petty criminals won't feel like filth in prison, and will have a good chance at reforming. It seems like a better environment to reform, than our drug invested prisons, which only make people worse than when they went in.

An ex-friend of mine went into prison as a petty thief, who took the occasional E. He came out a heroin addicted, begby-like nutcase, who stole 2000 on my brother and left him without a penny in Spain.

Yeah, great ****ing prison system we have.

Considering you have to do something pretty serious to get put in a high-security prison.... I don't think that's too likely.
