Looking to go to Oktoberfest this year but seems impossible to find accomodation.

    Everywhere seems booked.

Would like a private double room, somewhere near enough the city and ideally a hostel.

I know the wombat hostel is pretty good but rooms only go online in June and apparently sell out fast so its a bit risky waiting until then.

    Any tips/advice?

how much are you willing to spend? The price of hotels & hostels literally double for the duration of oktoberfest, we paid over €300 a night last year and we booked in feb.

Wasn't involved in the booking of acomodation for our trip, but I think we have somewhere for about 70eur each for three nights in the end. I belive it's some backpacker type place, but whos interested in mod-cons, I'm going for the beer. We had previously ended up kipping in tents for one night in the old Olympic Equestrian stadium as well a couple of years ago.

    This place isn't the worst - http://www.hotel-am-klinikum.de/

170ish for a room per night with breakfast. U-Bahn right beside it which is 10 mins (1.50euro) from the grounds.

Where ever you go it won't be cheap.

No point in going to Oktoberfest if you are on a tight budget. You wouldn't feel money going there.

Jaegers Hostel may still have twin/double rooms left for around €100.
Great Hostel in a great location!
We always book our accomadation in January for Oktoberfest!!

You'll have a great time if you get going!

just go to the Volksfest in Stuttgart or Nurnberg.
Obviously not as big as the fest in Munich but still pretty damn big. Plenty of tents and no shortage of tables.
You would get cheap accomodation and Stuttgart and Nurnberg are both very nice! Nurnberg would be my number 1 choice.

    Its on in August aswell

Theres also a much smaller fest in Erlangen, a student town outside of Nurnberg

Its really really nice as the fest is located on the top of the hill overlooking the town. It gets decent crowds and it has all the amusements etc that all the other fests have.
