ok so last night my plastic macbook 13"(little more than two years old) froze on me while flash cs4, firefox and quicktime were running. snow leapord is installed if that matters

it froze for a good 10 mins with the twirly umbrella and me not able to get to finder or anything so i turned it off with the power button

turned it back on again and it wont boot

the sound plays and then nothing changes

if i leave it like that for a while (say 15 / 20 mins) a folder icon appears with a question mark flashing on it

anyone have any ideas? i backed up 3 days ago so if its at all possible id like to restore using time machine to that time but if it seems like a hardware issue then it looks like this machine is a write off and ill get a new one

all help greatly appreciated i have 2 projects due in by friday

happened me twice in the last 10 years... can't see the system software (fingers crossed)...
Both times I had to reinstall the OS from the system disk - but a couple of quick fixes here first...

"Shouldn't" be a major (hardware) issue. You should be up and running in over an hour - worst case scenario.

If your using Migration assistant, this should be done after a fresh install before a user is created, otherwise pref/plists will not be copied correctly because of permission issues.

If user already created then migration assistant is only really could for copying files/documents etc, and you would prob be best to copy them yourself and install the applications again
