Have you been prosecuted for removing a private company car clamp?

    There have been a lot of posts about peoples opinions on the legality of clamping on private land.

    In order to cut through the rubbish, I would like to hear from people who have actually been brought to court by private clamping companies for removing a clamp.

    I was in naas court about 6 years ago (as a witness) and there was a man up on "removing a clamp illegally" . The company (which is private) were looking for €1600 in compo. The judge said "surely clamps dont cost that" and the soliciter for clamp company said "clamps dont come singley, they come as a set of 4 and to replace one you buy a set" The judge ordered the guy to pay €1600 compo + costs.
    (I wasn't a witness in the clamping case)
