    I thought I share a site I spotted earlier today, http://rulesformyunbornson.tumblr.com/

Whilst it has an American slant and take on things, it has some timeless advice for gentlemen.

Nice find Gran Hermano! :) I think that these are the kinds of things my father wished he could have said to me but didn't. Instead, our communication was mostly:

    Him: rant, rant, rant
    Me: rebel, rebel, rebel

    /raised voices.

Nowadays I can see it all a lot more clearly but I guess that back then he was trying to be the authority figure dispensing his advice as edicts rather than fatherly advice. Probably because he was felt that a firm hand was needed with boys so that they didn't go wayward :) My Dad is great but I guess back in the 70's there wasn't much advice around for new Dads. :D

I'd like to think that I'll be able to pass on pearls of wisdom to my daughter (due soon) but I'd say like most kids there'll be a lot of the above 'rebelling' going on :)

Now that drool-gate has taken a back seat whilst the jury is out, would there be any interest in a new thread with us lot sharing our own tips and advice on matters of importance to the modern gent?

I'm thinking along the lines of how to cut a cigar, how to tie a Windsor knot, hip flask care, suit buying guide/wardrobe essentials, shaving basics, and suchlike. I appreciate we have various fora which focus in depth on the topics but think it'd be a useful thread and could also refer people to specific
parts of Boards should they want further information.

I feel it could work if us gents here participated in sharing areas of experience.

    Any interest?

Don't forget sowing leather elbows onto your tweed jacket, monocle care, proper handlebar moustache etiquette and knowing a good, local watchmaker to tend to your brass timepiece needs. :pac:

Never understood hip flasks though, I've owned a few as well. Apart from street bums I have never seen a time and place for them. I know they used to be used to "warm the cockles" when out in the cold, but the myth of alcohol providing warmth has long been dispelled as false, in fact the inverse is true, it will make you colder.

One of the proverbs anyway that I live by and will pass on is:

"Don't put off till tomorrow that which you can easily do today"

It's simple but oft forgotten. Nobody knows what the future will bring so if there's a chore or task that I need to complete I just remember that proverb and get it done. I hate hearing people say "I don't have the time" or "I'll get round to it later". More often than not they could just get it done now and not have it hanging over there head.
