I'm nervous enough as it is for my test, but this has made me more nervous.

If I turn the car onto 'On' (you know where everything, except the engine, turns on) warning lights appear on the dash, the one that's shaped like an engine, one for oil and one for the battery

However, I switch the car on fully, these warnings appear for about a second but then dissapear. As far as I know, the battery and oil in the car are fine, as it passed its NCT only a few weeks ago.

What will happen on the test? Will I be expected to turn the car to 'On' so the tester can check the lights and indicators or can I go ahead and turn the engine on as well?

    Thanks in advance.

That's normal when you turn the keys.
The warning lights stay on while you're in 'Acc' (accessory).
Then they go off after you've started the engine.
    No need to be nervous.

Thanks guys. I realise now that it's normal to display those warning lights, but I was a little jumpy earlier on with nerves :P

I'll let you know how the test goes. Thanks for wishing me luck! :)

  • Those lights show up red when your in acc mode so that you know they're working. Good luck in your test.
