Free Mountain Bike if You Can Service Mine

First off, this is an unusual post so I'm sorry if I'm not allowed post it here. I'm not sure where it should be.

Basically the lady and myself bought bikes many years ago and never gave them much use. They've been lying idle for a good while and need a servicing. I would like to use mine while she isn't bothered about hers.

So if someone can service my bike (the gear system really just needs a looking at) and get it into running order they can have the other bike for nothing. The good news is that it's in pretty good shape but someone damaged the front wheel on it so that will need replacing.
Unfortunately they aren't anything fancy, both are those Blast Ranger bikes you see around town. Nothing special but they do the job. I didn't take them with me when we moved to the new place so I will need to confirm that they are still at our old place.

As I would essentially be giving two bikes to a total stranger I'd prefer to give them to a user here with a fairly decent post count as it's most likely that you won't abscond with the bikes!

If there is any interest in my 'deal' it's probably best to keep it on thread rather than through PMs. I dunno though maybe you lot would turn your noses up at such basic bikes! :D

Hi Kintarō Hattori, that sounds like an interesting proposal and I might be interested. I'm not familiar with the blast ranger bikes, are they something like the one pictured below with dual suspension etc?

In fairness it looks like a bit of trouble as those cheap mountain bikes with suspension have very poor components and the suspension systems are very poor and inefficient for cycling. They would be alot better with a fixed frame.
Could you post a picture of the ladies bike in question with the damaged front wheel, perhaps it's just buckled and can be straighten as not sure it's worth putting a new wheel on it.
Anyway I used to fix bikes years ago in Galway so should be well able to service your bike. Where are you based and are you in any immediate rush to service the bike?
    Thanks

Hi Doc that's exactly the style of bike. Silly me for not saying where I'm based- Dublin city centre. I'll try and get a picture of the ladies bike before or at the weekend.

Thanks but I imagine they probably wouldn't want to fix the other up for me.

Hi Kintarō Hattori, any luck in getting a picture of the ladies bike and the front wheel in particular. I'm also based in Dublin city centre so could be a suitable arrangement.
