Yeah it sounds like a spam headline but don't worry its ok to click. I know some systems will have Windows Godmode, other people may have dedicated and professional devices, but here's one to try for free.

It would be interesting for people with a calibrated monitor to try it and see if it concurs roughly with their spyder or whatever...

Anyhow, at that price you just can't beat it I guess. Nothing to be lost.

Just to let people know windows 7(I'm running windows 7 pro) has one built in too
You Right click on desktop > Screen resolution > Advanced settings >New pop up appears > Color management tab > Color management button > New screen appears > Advanced tab > Calibrate display.

Ok, that's just made my screen much dimmer, going by the instructions. Couldn't any website with a black backing do that? Just fiddle about until it looks genuine black?

Just tried it with my spyder calibrated laptop, seems as if the spyder has it bang on.:D

Thanks for this Tommy. If I hadn't got the spyder i'm sure it would do. If you stare at something long enough your eyes play tricks on you. So for that reason, I don't trust my eyes at all for this kind of calibration.

Looks pretty good to me on a spyder calibreated monitor. Tried it on a few college computers too and it sort of did the trick.

    just on a side note.

Is it worth getting one of those spyder calibrated monitors. I print a lot of my photos and they don't always show the truest colours and exposures.

Also, is there anywhere you can get one for a cheap enough price??

If all you want is a calibrated monitor:

    http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-colorvision-spyder-3-express/p1033745
€63.99 (plus shipping from the UK)

If you want to be able to calibrate your displays, AND your printers [attached to your own computer or network type things.. doesn't have an option so you can get calibrations of the output from your local photolab unfortunately] I'd recommend this:
    http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-x-rite-colormunki-photo/p1025811
    (This is what I use.)

It's on-sale for €308.00 (backordered) and will also let you "zap" colors off of objects in the real-world for later matching. (As in.. "Wow. that car is a really cool color.. I'm going to sample the paint" and then touch the Colormunki to the surface of the car and *POOF* there's the color recorded on your laptop.)

If you are looking at setting yourself up as a photolab and/or colour control consultant:
    http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-x-rite-eye-one-xtreme/p1029099

(This is actually a bargain for a professional lab to get consistent, superior results. at €1144.10)
