I hate to be the one asking stupid questions, but is that like an attachment that you can use to link up other lens?

the mount is the means the len connects and communicates with camera. there are a few different types, your camera requires the pentax mount

    It's a De303N.

I've had it for about 5 years now and to tell the truth the lens is really awkward to use compare to any other camera I use.

(that and i need to get contacts)

There are LOTS of Pentax K-Mount lenses around.. especially if it's manual.
I shoot on a Pentax K20D digital.. and can use the same lenses as your Phenix... there's some really good glass out there to be had.
