Failed NCT...

I have a 12 year old mitsubishi Lancer that just failed the NCT test on a few things:

    1. Driver seat window engine not working
    2. Rear lamp lens broken
    3. Track rod ends worn
On top of this, the battery is very bad and needs replacing.

I would really appreciate any advice on what to do now...
I am concidering upgrading to a slightly newer car but also thinking about the scrappage...

Anyone got any idea of what it might cost to fix the car? And what I might get for the car as a trade in if I dont go for the scrappage?

Is a trade in generally better than selling and buying to seperate garages?

    Appreciate any views on this...

    Thanks!

Track rod ends are cheap and not labour intenive to fit, rear lens can be got off ebay or scrap yard, fit it yourself. Electric window motor will be the most expensive. As a trade in you'll get very little for it, most places will simply take 10% or so off the windscreen price of what they are selling you (if your spending over a few thousand that is). NCTd or not they won't give you much for it.

Best thing to do is to get it passed the NCT, donedeal.ie it for €1400 or so and go as a cash customer to buy your next car.
