fertilizer and old grass

    lads keep a few sheep and a goat, on about an acre and a half, just wondering what fertilizer should i put out for good growth, a lot of the ground is very old grass, and some has none at all, what would ye recommened, should i reseed some, any tips would be great

    spread gran lime maybe on it..to sweeten it up!
    then mayb urea...
    prob in time, reseed it..if its very old pasture

    Its a waste of time spreading urea after lime as the urea doesn't work. You have to wait a certain amount of time before you can use urea again after land has been limed. I would think it would be the same with gran lime.

    plenty of nitrogen, mix a bit of grass seed in with it , an acre and a half should take about 20 minutes and all you need is a bucket and a glove to spread it.

    sam, i know that! i'd leave it for a few weeks in between each,if u went to do that!

    Aside from the straight urea- there are different ones out there- 7:6:17, 5:5:10, 10:10:20, 7:7:7 for example. Most of us are well familiar with the benefits of 10:10:20 (N:P:K)
    I'd be more inclined to go with 10:10:20 than straight urea- but without knowledge of the site- its pure guess work.....
