Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Water tank in attic not filling

Hi - We have a problem with the water tank in attic not filling - just a dribble of water going in which quickly runs out. Cold water in kitchen ok. Thought it was water pressure but Council ckecked today and water pressure ok. They suggested that there might be a bit of grit in the ball-cock in the tank. Is there any way I can check this without having to call a plumber.

    Many thanks.

Turn off the mains at the valve under the kitchen sink. Run the kitchen tap to confirm its then off. Once it is, you can open the ball valve and check if debris is in the orifice. Its simple to open and check for dirt.

When finished, and reconnected, get someone downstairs to turn on the mains while your still in the attic. Then if it not fitted correctly they can turn it back off straight away.

Tried to open the nut holding ballcock in place but it won't budge. This is a big nut connecting the inlet pipe and the ballcock. Is this the one I need to try to open and if so how will I get it to loosen. Should I try WD40.

    Thanks again

Them nuts do not open easy. I would try free it with some cotton budds. use them like pipe cleaners.
