Final Fantasy XIII

Picked up the limited edition for 60euro in Smyths this morning. Great price considering UK sites are charging way more for it.

Looking forward to playing it tonight. Reviews have been down on previous FF games, with most reviewers critising the linear and restrictive gameplay. Although FFXII got great reviews and i personally hated it.

Although XIII looks like another radical move away from classics like VII its still Final Fantasy after all. Whos getting it?

Picked my copy up yesterday in XV. Played a few minutes, I am not liking it just yet but I will wait until it opens up more before I give a proper verdict.

No point in having it in the PS forum, as some people will pick it up on the xbox, at least if you discuss it there, you will get more opinions.

I can garuntee it will sell more on playstation , not sure if i get it last one i played was on ps1 was like 8 or 9 :P , might pick it up friday

Brilliant game, been playing for the past 4 hours or so...Aint really played any final fantasy games, but this one is outstanding and I am not really into them sort of games...

Agreed just got it today put 2 hours into it , i like everything bout it though the combat i dont know bout i guess im not used to playing games like this

The one thing that is really annoying is that Lightning girl, she needs a slap lol...Snow is a legend though

Being a Final Fantasy diehard im both loving and hating the game. Im about 6 hours in.

Love the graphics, simply stunning, its such a major step up. Im hating the battle system though. Controlling one character only is really restrictive. Others in your party simply wander about and the battle can become congested and difficult to manage. The Paradigm system works well and im enjoying that aspect but i would much prefer total control over my party in battles.

Still im enjoying the characters and the story so far.

Loving this game so far. It's the reason I bought a PS3 at launch and so far it seems like it's been worth the wait.

The boss battle music gives me chills, it's fantastic!

loving it so far, i buy the majority of my games on xbox 360 but decided to go with the ps3 for this one since its meant to look better on it. About an hour into the game, not a huge fan of the battle system so far but everything else seems great.

Still trying to get my head around the battle system, keep getting my ass handed to me by the first Aeon. Looks amazing.

that little ginger kid is a annoying , lighting i think is awesome such a badass in the opening cutscene

I'm about 10 hours in and she's gradually becoming more interesting as a character. Actress still hasn't quite settled on a fecking accent yet though.

I think at first you realise that the combat isn't tedious and dull like most RPGS so you figure it must be watered down... but once you start getting your ass handed to you because you're not juggling the paradigms correctly you start to realise there is a lot more to it... and the pacing on the battles is great.

Might give this a rental and see how much it grows on me before deciding to buy...
PS3 version is supposedly superior to the 360 one for once, so will give that a bash

I'm amazed at how fast it is... loading times are so quick, especially for graphics this good... and no install either.

It was made for the PS3 as lead console and then ported to the 360, whereas most multi-format games use the 360 as the lead console and then port to the PS3.

For anyone on the fence, you should definitely try the game, be warned though, the first 3-4 hours are pretty much tutorial mode(not too bad considering the game itself is supposed to be 60+ hours). It's going to look easy as hell at the start, but once all the systems kick in, it's fun and challenging. Very fast paced too, while still maintaining an RPG feel.

It does feel a little bit linear at times, and the lack of towns isn't something I'm over the moon about, but overall it's a very fun gameplay experience.

Strongly disagree here. For me the game became a lot of fun once the paradigm system became available. That's about 2-3 hours in. At the 5-6 hour mark you get

I ask, because I did, it was dispatched last Friday, but I still have not received it, 5 working days and still not here.....that's a ridiculous delivery time. Of course I cant complain about it until 10 working days surpass the dispatch date.

i got the limited edition guide from the hut it took 7 working days to deliver..not the fastest delivery time in the world..Amazon are much better

Actually it's 10 working days in the U.K., you have to wait 30 working days to complain from Ireland. They sent Yakuza 3 to me on the same day and i hasn't arrived either. Their delivery times are shocking I don't know how it could take that long.

I still think Square have it in them as FFXII was superb but I'm finding it hard to get interested in FFXIII. I dunno why but it feels odd after years of playing FF to simple not really give a damn anymore. It just doesn't jump out a grab me this time.

Finally arrived in the mail this morning, I opened it only to find the games case was all shattered to hell at the top and, wait for it, when you shake it, it sounds like a bag of Rice Krispies. So this will be going back to them, maybe I will get to play itsometime in April at this rate.

About 10 hours in and im loving it. The battle system has grown on me over time and i find the paradigm system a great addition to battles. Ive had my ass handed to me on so many occasions and ive now generated new paradigms to combat different sorts of enemies.

Also the fact your automatically healed after every battle makes the game way more enjoyable.

Anyone hear on anything Versus, whens it coming out. Last i heard was; the team stopped to help with 13 and the release was put off indefinately.

not much i heard bout versus on metacritic it been released for november 1st 2010 might not see it till 2011 , or it could be revealed for e3 who knows , after playing ff i regret not playin the others , but then again im only getting into rpg games now
