I had the pleasure of swimming at this last year. Great charity and really good craic at it. I hadnt realised they made so many bits and pieces out of neoprene and that it is physically possible to wear several wet suits at once before I attended this event ;)

Anyhow - Ill be there for my sins to pass on some cash to the RNLI.
Water should be nice and warm at the end of March after all this recent sunshine :P

btw, Im pretty sure they mean 10.45 am on sunday morning and not 10.45pm as per posting.
Im not connected to the swim in any way so if this breaks any rules associated with advertising please remove. Apologies in advance.

    Sounds tempting...

It's not one of these Speedo-only swims by any chance?

It's hard enough to get into the pool without the wet suit, never mind the wilds of Rush!

No, there was one loon hardened individual there last year that did it sans suit but the majority of people were wearing diving wetsuits (the kinda 7mm mitchelin man style suits) or the usual wetsuit attire you'll see at triathlons ... it does make sense to wear a couple of swim hats early on in the season though.

Wish I hadn't seen this, I do need a 2k OW swim to see how training's going, but in march? my toes already feel numb :D

Yeah. A couple of definites - its early in the year and its going to be cold. Some more definites: you'll have a 2k swim under your belt, you'll have had your first dip for a good cause and most importantly you'll be able to claim temporary insanity for anything you do for the rest of that day.

All of this and you'll be doing it for charity. There's usually an ice cream van parked up for a 99 after as well ... that bits made up ;)

This still on? The above links lead me to a blank RNLI page.

Yeah - there appears be a problem with the linky alright.
The swim is definitely still on.

Ive just contacted Dick on the number above. Essentially they'll post out a sponsorship form that you do your best with between now and the 28th.
I was also told it'll kick off promptly since its all based on the tides in that stretch of water.
