Just got an email from Kildare Village outlet centre with an offer of an extra 30% off all purchases in the Nike outlet between March 13th. - 21st inclusive.

You just need to print out the invite from here.

Offer valid in all Nike outlets in the UK and Ireland listed on the invite.

For those who haven't been to Kildare Village, prices displayed are ex-VAT which is then added on when you go to purchase.

Don't get me wrong they're still some great deals, but you can go over your budget when forgetting about VAT to be added!

That sounds like a bit of a con, is that legal?

It's how they do it in the US ie they charge you ten dollars PLUS tax. It gets me everytime I go there.

That must only be in the Nike store which I don't buy from. Any other store I have purchased from is the same as anywhere else: the price on the ticket is the price you pay.

I have purchased in the Nike store and only paid the advertised price

I've bought many items in Nike in Kildare and have only ever paid the full price advertised on the item.

Definitely no extra charge for VAT at the till when I purchased.

They definitely do it in the Reebok store... I got caught out the last time I went!

They absolutely definitely DO NOT add extra VAT in ANY outlet in Kildare Village.

It is illegal and if it did happen certainly quite a few peopl would have mentioned it.

I repeat VAT is NOT added to ANY purchase whatsoever in any outlet.

Where stevire may be confused, Texas outlet store that used to be in Tullamore added VAT at the till as it was trading as a "wholesale club" but in kildare Village every store is a standard retail store and the price you see is the price you pay. - Considering I live a few hundred yards away and shop very regularly there, I think I can be quite correct on this.
