Hi we are looking to goto orlando around the end of august or even in september. Was looking on tour amercia and for 2 weeks for the 4 of us in one room its costing around 750 each. Girlfriend has been there 4 times and she said that its best to stay on international drive as there is a trolley bus that goes to everything. Is this the case or are the other areas just as good. Been looking on hotels.com and there are some good offers on hotels but most of them seem to have reviews saying they are dirty as well as good ones. Can anyone recommend a good budget hotel and is 750 a decent price for 2 weeks or could you get cheaper. Had one on cheaptickets.com that was working out at 630 each and it was staying in, Homewood Suites by Hilton® Lake Buena Vista - Orlando but its not on international drive. Is it just as handy to get around from the other areas

I'm staying at the Homewood Suites on International Drive (yep, there's two of 'em!) in June. Never stayed there before, but it's been recommended by some English pals of mine. There is a shuttle from this place to both Disney & Universal, as most hotels only offer one or the other. Plus you get a buffet breakfast included in the price :) Plus free finger food & wine/beer Monday to Thursday! :D

After pricing around, I finally booked with a company in Cork called Magic Vacations. They didn't offer the Homewood Suites, but booked it for me when I insisted. They're very helpful.

There's 4 of us as well, 2 adults & 2 kids, which is why we wanted the suite, as it's a bit more user friendly than a hotel room. The place gets knocked a bit on the reviews because the pool is very shaded, but tbh, with two small kids that's a plus in my book!

We're going for 3 weeks, during the high season, so we can't really compare prices. The best price was flying Dublin to Gatwick then to Orlando! Much cheaper than flying direct from Dublin. Plus the plane from Gatwick is a Virgin Atlantic 747, which is a great airline using a far more comfortable plane.

Last time we where there was 10 years ago, and we went at the start of September. It's a great time to go, as the weather is still very good (apart from the odd moonsoon thunder storm!), and the parks are a lot quieter at that time.
We can't go at that time this year as it'd interfere with secondary school too much. :(

Don't know what else to tell you, but feel free to ask questions! :)

Hotels in Orlando are incredibly cheap, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that you would get a room for 2 weeks for €400. Have you looked up the hotels on Trip Advisor? Don't be put off by the odd bad review, there will always be nitpickers and my rule of thumb is that if 75% of reviews are good then the hotel is ok. Americans tend to be very fussy when it comes to hotels, so even the budget options tend to be at least clean and comfortabe. Lake Buena Vista is a nice area and is very close to Disney, not so convenient for the Universal parks. If you don't have a car then International Drive is probably your best bet. Homewood Suites get great reviews on Trip Advisor, but one of them is in a better location than the other, so maybe check that out before you book.

I think that price of €3000 for 4 of you is pretty good, but you might do better booking seperately yourself. As the previous poster said, it can work out cheaper to fly Dublin-Gatwick-Orlando with British Airways, but if you're kids are very young it might be worth the extra money to fly direct.

we use 1800hotels for our acc. we stayed in the econo lodge inn on international drive last july. under 400 euro for 2 weeks. 2 double beds and bathroom. we had heard stories about the hotels here aswell but the room was clean and the staff were nice, no complaints about the hotel at all. we are going to go there again in july and priced it at 388 euro last week

That's a crazy price. Have you tried Crowne Plaza, super hotel just off the ID?

Great facilities, bar and restaurant. Beware lots of 'kippy' hotels in broader area.
